Alto Flute Concerto receives piano reduction
American composer David Ott has completed a new piano reduction of his stunning alto flute concerto. The piece is set in three movements and is a masterwork of composition and writing for the alto. The reduction (prepared by the composer) is clean and well organized, now making it possible for professionals and students throughout the International flute community to study and even perform this work in a more intimate setting. The writing for the alto flute is both lyrical yet edgy, and certainly virtuosic! David states," the writing is given to allow both the lower register of the alto flute to portray it's haunting beauty, and to explore the facile nature of the instrument."
Kind thanks and special mention goes to Jessica Hateley, Honours student from the University of Melbourne Australia, for her dedicated communication and gracious manner towards inspiring the composer to provide this wonderful opportunity for all alto flutists.
